I’ve found myself standing frozen, stuck in a space that feels like it’s taking over my body. It’s as though I’m wrapped in a heavy veil—a lie disguised as truth. It whispers doubt, feeds insecurity, and bullies me into believing I’m not enough.
This feeling isn’t new to me. Insecurity has been an unwelcome companion since childhood. It shows up in quiet moments and loud ones, gripping my heart with the fear of failure and rejection. But recently, I decided I’ve had enough.
Insecurity, you are a lie.
To confront it, I wrote a song—a reminder of truth when insecurity tries to creep back in:
Insecurity, I won’t let you get the best of me.
I won’t let you lie against the things God has done.
Because He created me, and He has washed me clean of the past that tries to hold on.
I am redeemed by the blood of God.
Insecurity, you might walk around with me, but you are no longer a part of my story.
It’s time you take your leave.
What you’ve tried to do has been undone, for I am a child of God.**
Have you ever felt like you’re drowning in an ocean of lies? The waves of “I’m not enough,” “I can’t do this,” or “I should just give up” crash over you, pulling you under? That’s how insecurity feels to me—like I’m gasping for air, desperate to find solid ground.
But here’s the truth: the veil is heavy, but it isn’t real. It’s a lie. And I’ve learned that the only way out is to confront it with boldness and God’s truth.
God’s Promises for Courage and Strength
When insecurity whispers its lies, I stand on God’s Word. His promises remind me of who I am and give me strength to keep going.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”– Isaiah 41:10
God’s Love and Provision
Even in the depths of insecurity, God’s love is a steady anchor. He has redeemed me, and He provides all I need to rise above the lies.
“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.”
Isaiah 49:16
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” Psalm 23:1
I’ve spent too much time letting insecurity have its way, but no more. Now, I step out from under its weight and into the light of who God says I am. I am loved. I am His child. I am victorious because of what Jesus has done for me.
Choosing to Rise
Does this mean it’s easy? No. Breaking free feels hard. The lies try to dig in deep. But they have no real power, only the illusion of it. God has given me the authority to call them out, to rise above, and to claim victory.
When insecurity shows up, I remind myself of this:
- It’s not here to stay.
- God has already overcome.
- I am equipped to fight back with His truth.
I’ve realized these moments of insecurity aren’t just struggles; they’re opportunities. They’re invitations to sit with Jesus and allow Him to transform my pain into beauty. These feelings are reminders of where I was before He saved me and evidence of how far He’s brought me since.
So, if you find yourself in a similar place—feeling stuck, weighed down, or overwhelmed by lies—know this: You are not alone. You are a child of God, redeemed and restored. The enemy’s lies hold no power over the truth of who you are in Christ.
Here’s my invitation to you: Rise above. Be brave, even when your knees are shaking. Speak boldly, knowing God is with you. And if you need a reminder, sing this little song to yourself as I do:
Insecurity, I won’t let you get the best of me.
I won’t let you lie against the things God has done.
Because He created me, and He has set me free from all of this insecurity.
God’s got you. You are stronger than you think, and with Him, you are more than enough.
